Those of you who know us are probably aware we celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary with a month-long trip to Australia and New Zealand. Since we couldn't bore all of you in person with our photos, we figured we could do so via the web. Those of you who don't know us are welcome to come along of course, but don't say we didn't warn you!

We left Colorado Springs on Friday, April 17, 1998. Our flights went through Denver to LA to Sydney to Cairns, where we caught a boat to Fitzroy Island. Travel time was 31 hours, though we arrived Sunday, April 19.

Here's a brief look at our itinerary, which we sort of made up as we went along: After some diving and other tourist fun, we left Cairns for Brisbane by train. A few days in Brisbane, and then we flew from Australia (map) to Christchurch on the South Island (map) of New Zealand.

From Christchurch we took day trips to Greymouth, Hanmer Springs and Kaikoura. We then journeyed by bus south to Queenstown. After a tour to Milford Sound and other adventures, we flew to Rotorua on the North Island (map.)

After a few days there, we headed north by bus through Auckland to Whangarei. There, we finally bit the bullet and rented a car. (Forget the trains, planes, busses, diving, helicopter ride, bungy jump, etc. Driving on the left was the most dangerous!)

We continued on to Tutukaka,Paihia and at last to Cape Reinga at the northern tip of NZ. We returned to Whangarei, and flew back to Auckland and then on home to Manitou Springs.

We took tons of pictures, bought videos, & had a wonderful time. We've posted a sampling here, with some cool links, too.  There are three main pages with little thumbnail shots for those of you without a T-3 line. *"No Worries" is the Australian equivalent of "Relax, don't worry about it, no problem!"
