Backpacking
in the Sierra Nevada
Aug. 7-16, 1999
Our annual backpacking
trek lived up to the challenge set in previous years: do dumb stuff and live to tell about
it. This year's adventure took us (more or less) along the Piute/Lamarck Trail in the John Muir Wilderness
Area of the Inyo National
Forest. We did around 38 miles in 7 days, which was harder than it sounds since we
